Complete behavior analytics-related courses at the graduate or undergraduate level. Each 50 minutes of classroom instruction in ABA therapy training earns one CEU.
2. Authorized events
Participate in events approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Certificates or letters from the provider are required to claim credit.
3. Non-authorized events
Attend behavior analysis-related seminars, conferences, workshops, podcasts, etc., even if not specifically authorized by the BACB. Signed certificates are needed to claim credit (up to 25% of required units).
4. Instruction
Teaching college and university coursework as well as authorized events also earns CEUs. Official documentation is required, and up to half of the required hours can be earned through instruction.
5. BACB events
Attend BACB-provided seminars, conferences, and activities to earn units (up to 25% of total units). Authorization is done through the BACB Gateway Account.
6. Examinations
Taking and passing the BCBA or BCaBA exam during the certification cycle satisfies all CEU requirements. However, failing the exam results in losing certification.
Scholarly activities
Publish ABA-related articles in peer-reviewed journals or serve as a reviewer or editor for such articles. Published articles and reviewing activities contribute to CEU credits (up to 25% of total units).
It’s important to note that no more than 75% of CEUs can come from non-authorized events, instruction, BACB events, and scholarly activities. At least one-quarter of the hours must be from classroom instruction and authorized events.
